This was a ground floor extension and loft conversion project.
The project was divided in two for planning purposes. A full plans application being made for the loft conversion which allowed for a new street facing gabled dormer to be introduced.
The rear extension was undertaken under the Prior notification permitted development route. This resulted in a stepped rear elevation as each adjoining neighbour had different ideas as to what would be an acceptable distance to extend the rear of the property out to. Rather than seeing this as a negative it was used to the projects advantage as it allowed the use of the internal and external spaces to be more carefully considered as part of an overall design.
