NORMAN AVENUE

The refurbishment and extension of this Victorian semi-detached house in St Margaret’s, Twickenham, involved stripping the building back to a structural shell, lowering the rear ground floor and garden, structural extension works at both ground and roof level, as well as the installation of new services and finishes throughout. Among the main challenges were meeting Richmond planning department’s strict criteria for development in the St Margaret conservation area, and building on poor ground conditions associated with the site’s proximity to the River Thames.
