On first inspection by PNW Studios this pub in Thame town centre presented a number of unusual aspects. Chief among these was that one of the main bar areas was being used as a gingham table-clothed tea room! In addition, the manager’s accommodation was housed in a stable block to the rear, the first floor was subdivided into hotel bedrooms. and the remaining pub occupied secondary rooms under a plastic-roofed conservatory at the rear.

 

PNW Studios’ brief was to return the disjoined collection of spaces and uses to a unified and welcoming public house. The work included converting the tea room back into a lounge bar, replacing the plastic-roofed conservatory with a double-glazed structure that could be used all year round, relocating the customer toilets and managers office to the first floor, and transforming the timber-framed stable block into a beautiful dining space.
