THE HIGHWAYMAN
The Highwayman in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, comprises the conversion of a Brasserie Blanc restaurant to a White Brasserie pub. Occupying a narrow, steeply sloping site off the High Street, the original design (also by PNW Studios) features staggered floor levels and glazed roofing to maximise useable floor area and daylighting. French doors open on to secluded and inviting courtyard at the rear.
The conversion includes the introduction of a raised floor area, new bar counter, rustic-timber-clad walls, industrial lighting, colourful fabrics and a wood-burning stove.
